Microbiology Research Facility - Minneapolis, Minnesota

Vibration Control & Measurement

Location:

Minneapolis, Minnesota

Client:

BWBR Architects

General Contractor:

Mortenson Construction

The Biomedical Discovery District is a multi-phased research campus at the University of Minnesota. ESI’s involvement in the structural design of the district continued with the Microbiology Research Building. Sensitive laboratories required a stringent level of floor vibration performance to accommodate cell and tissue growth and confocal and fluorescence microscopy.

Our services included vibration criteria recommendations, structural modifications to limit footfall vibration, and specification of mechanical equipment isolation.

ESI also provided site vibration measurements to assess the impact of adjacent heavy rail on laboratories.
