General Contractor:

Mortenson Construction

This new addition to the University of Minnesota is a $70M interdisciplinary research facility for physics, nanoscience and applied nanotechnology. A 5,000 square foot ground floor cleanroom houses state-of-the-art tools for fabricating structures under 100 nanometers in size.

ESI performed a vibration survey, including measurements, on the proposed site and designed a special isolated concrete floor structure to support the cleanroom and isolate it from nearby traffic, bus, and LRT vibration.

The cleanroom was designed to achieve stringent VC-E criteria that required hand-in-hand collaboration with the architect and structural engineer to achieve a cutting edge level of performance.

We continue to work with the University on this exciting facility as their research evolves.
