Minnesota State Capitol—Restoration (St. Paul, Minnesota)
This restoration project was a five-year endeavor, touching every inch of the Capitol building in Saint Paul. ESI worked with HGA Architects and Engineers to evaluate room acoustics, reduce HVAC noise and vibration, design interior wall assemblies for improved speech privacy, and perform room acoustic and sound transmission testing services. One of the biggest challenges was to evaluate the existing acoustics in the House of Representatives, Senate and Supreme Court chambers, and develop recommendations for enhanced acoustics and speech intelligibility.
Ramsey County Library (Shoreview, Minnesota)
As the existing library had become obsolete, it was replaced with this brand new, modern regional library. ESI worked with HGA Architects and Engineers and Adolfson & Peterson Construction to reduce HVAC noise and vibration, select interior acoustic materials to provide good room acoustics and speech intelligibility, design interior wall assemblies for improved speech privacy, and analyze the exterior façade for outdoor highway noise transmission into the library.
