We’re excited to see all the positive news about the new luxury hotel at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport (see WCCO news link below). ESI was part of RSP Architects’ design team as the acoustical consultant for this new InterContinental Minneapolis Airport Hotel. The biggest challenge was reducing indoor noise levels from jet departures on the two east/west runways that are only 2,000 feet from either side of the hotel. The jet noise needed to meet the stringent InterContinental expectations in the guestrooms and meeting spaces. Outdoor noise was monitored, calculations prepared, and a 10-1/4” deep curtain wall glazing assembly was recommended. As reported in the news clip, the results have been outstanding. Other services for this project included development of appropriate acoustic criteria as well as recommendations for room-to-room airborne and impact sound isolation, HVAC noise control, and equipment vibration isolation.
