ACI announces availability of a new Special Publication
Foundations for Dynamic Equipment
edited by Dr. Carl A. Nelson of ESI Engineering
ACI recently published SP-348, Foundations for Dynamic Equipment, edited by Dr. Carl Nelson, Consulting Engineer at ESI Engineering and member of ACI Committee 351—Foundations for Equipment and Machinery.
This publication grew out of the Technical Session entitled “Application of ACI 351-C Report on Dynamic Foundations,” held at the ACI Spring 2019 Convention in Québec City, Québec. The nine papers deal predominantly with the application of the Committee’s Report ACI 351.3—Foundations for Dynamic Equipment—recently updated in 2018. A number of case studies are presented involving the design and retrofit of foundations supporting steam turbine generators, wind turbines, dynamic testing machines, and process equipment. In addition to design, advanced analysis and vibration measurements are discussed in several papers.
David Pedersen, Anthony Baxter, and Carl Nelson of ESI co-authored the paper “Predicting Near and Far Field Ground Vibration for Equipment Foundations.”
SP-348 provides a valuable resource for structural engineers and others concerned with the design, analysis, and performance of foundations for dynamic equipment. This digital publication is available free of charge to ACI members.
