This noise monitoring project for an energy generation facility in rural Illinois established the project site’s current noise environment prior to startup of a new power generation facility. Near and far field measurements using sophisticated equipment were made at several locations on the project site over a period of 24 hours. Sound pressure data was presented for morning, evening, and nighttime periods and compared with EPA criteria.
Noise sources included steam turbine generators, roof ventilators, condensate and boiler pumps, and other large equipment.
